Our History

Lions Lawyers (Lions Litigate) is a Ukrainian law firm with roots dating back to the 1990s, when Vitaliy Batryn founded a private legal practice in Uzhhorod, the administrative centre of the Transcarpathian region.

By the early 2000s, the firm had gained recognition as one of the leading legal teams in western Ukraine. At that time, the firm’s founder was widely respected for his deep commitment to the legal profession — representing the interests of the attorney community at the national level and serving as the head of a high-level qualification body within the National Bar Association of Ukraine, responsible for upholding professional standards.

The early passing of our founder brought deep sorrow, but it also strengthened our resolve to continue the path he had begun.

What now operates under the current brand name is the firm officially registered in Kyiv in 2012, building on the experience we brought with us during our relocation to Ukraine’s capital.

This marked a new chapter — expanding our areas of practice, focusing on international law, and opening Ukraine to foreign investors and states. Since then, the firm has been led by the founder’s sons, both qualified barristers under Ukrainian law, continuing his legacy with a modern, forward-looking vision.

Despite all transformations, the fundamentals have remained unchanged. We believe that effective legal advice must always take into account the political, economic, and social context in which our clients operate. We are proactive in offering solutions, taking this part of our responsibility for granted. We also respect the value of our clients’ time. This perspective continues to shape how we think, act, and resolve legal challenges today.
