Lions Lawyers’ team members founded and led the implementation of the Open Court Project, an initiative that has left a lasting mark on the modern history of justice reform in Ukraine

OPEN COURT

Since 2015, Ukraine has been the only country in the world to allow video recording of court hearings without the court’s permission. Open Court was created to turn this exceptional level of judicial openness into a practical instrument for transparency, accountability and legal education. Working with more than 100 courts nationwide, the project has engaged thousands of participants and recorded thousands of court hearings — documenting justice in practice while making real courtroom proceedings a unique source of practical legal education for students, lawyers and the wider public.
