Lions Lawyers Partner Contributes to Ukrainian–Italian Strategic Cooperation

Maksym Batryn, Partner at Lions Lawyers, was one of the initiators and contributed to the establishment of a new international partnership between the Zakarpattia Regional Council (Ukraine) and Eurac Research, a leading European research centre based in Bolzano, Italy.

On 8 September 2026, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a framework for cooperation across a range of areas relevant to the long-term development and European integration of the Zakarpattia region.

The cooperation brings together the Zakarpattia Regional Council and Eurac Research’s multidisciplinary expertise, with prospective areas of collaboration including regional development and sustainable tourism, climate and energy, environmental policy, technological transformation, healthcare, and broader social development.

Eurac Research, established in 1992, is an independent research centre with an extensive international academic network and experience in applied research addressing regional and global challenges.

Following the conclusion of the Memorandum, Lions Lawyers remains available to provide legal support for the development and implementation of the cooperation, including in relation to the legal aspects of prospective joint initiatives and projects.

The event was attended by senior representatives of the Zakarpattia Regional Council, including Roman Sarai, Chair of the Zakarpattia Regional Council; Andrii Sheketa, First Deputy Chair; and Taras Haiduk, Deputy Head of the Council’s Executive Office.
